چکیده
Mixtures of Pt clusters dispersed on gamma-Al(2)O(3) and additional gamma-Al(2)O(3) led to much higher DME combustion turnover rates than on the individual components or on Pt clusters supported on non-acidic oxides.

Dimethyl ether combustion catalyzed by supported Pd, Rh, and Pt clusters: Site requirements and reaction pathways
Clusters of Pt and Pd catalyze dimethyl ether (DME) combustion to CO2 and H2O at 400–600 K without detectable formation of byproducts. Rh clusters are less active and also form CO, HCHO, and CH3OH in this temperature range. On Pd, isotopic and kinetic studies have shown that DME–O2 reactions proceed via redox cycles limited by hydrogen abstraction from chemisorbed DME molecules without the invo...
متن کاملStructural requirements and reaction pathways in dimethyl ether combustion catalyzed by supported Pt clusters.
The identity and reversibility of the elementary steps required for catalytic combustion of dimethyl ether (DME) on Pt clusters were determined by combining isotopic and kinetic analyses with density functional theory estimates of reaction energies and activation barriers to probe the lowest energy paths. Reaction rates are limited by C-H bond activation in DME molecules adsorbed on surfaces of...
متن کاملNO Oxidation Catalysis on Pt Clusters: Elementary Steps, Structural Requirements, and Synergistic Effects of NO2 Adsorption Sites
Kinetic and isotopic methods show that NO oxidation on supported Pt clusters involves kinetically relevant reaction of O2 with vacancy sites on surfaces nearly saturated with oxygen adatoms (O*). The oxygen chemical potential at Pt surfaces that determines the O* coverage is rigorously described by an O2 virtual pressure and determined by the thermodynamics of NO2-NO interconversion reactions. ...
متن کاملDFT Study of H2 Combustion on αAl2O3 Supported Pt Clusters
Based on Density Functional Theory – Generalized Gradient Approximation calculations (DFT-GGA), we provide a theoretical model for the H2 combustion on Al2O3 supported catalytically active Pt nanoclusters. In a previous paper (Synowczynski, 2008), we identified several adsorption and dissociation processes that occur on the Al2O3 support and demonstrated that products from these reactions can m...
متن کاملEFFECT OF WALL THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY ON MICRO-SCALE COMBUSTION CHARACTERISTICS OF HYDROGEN-AIR MIXTURES WITH DETAILED CHEMICAL KINETIC MECHANISMS IN Pt/γ-Al2O3 CATALYTIC MICRO-COMBUSTORS
To understand the effect of different thermal conductivities on catalytic combustion characteristics, effect of thermal conductivity on micro-combustion characteristics of hydrogen-air mixtures in Pt/γ-Al2O3 catalytic micro-combustors were investigated numerically with detailed chemical kinetics mechanisms. Three kinds of wall materials (100, 7.5, and 0.5 W/m·K) were selected to investigate the...
